Alfred William NEISH (1892-1915)

Photograph of white headstone - inscription reads: 'In Loving Memory of Anne Neishe Red Cross Nurse V.A.D Died in Reading War Hospital October 16th 1918 aded 32. Also of Alfred William Neish 5th Wilts Missing August 10th 1915 at Gallipoli Aged 21 - Beloved children of J & W Neish Iwerne Minster, Blandford. Also of Jane Neish who died July 15th 1932 aged 77 years.

Alfred William Neish was the son of William and Jane Neish and the brother of Annie Neish (War Graves of Old Reading Cemetery website). He is commemorated on the headstone of Annie and her mothers grave. He was killed in action at Gallipoli on 10^th August 1915. There had been very vicious fighting since the allied landing on 6^th August, in conditions of intense heat.
